Welcome to Junior Faculty

Junior Faculty is an organization for junior researchers at Uppsala University. A 'junior researcher' is a person with a PhD, but without a permanent position. Members are e.g. assistant professors, associate professors, 'post-docs' and other scientists without a permanent faculty position.

The overall aim of Junior Faculty is to promote the career of junior scientists. To further this goal, we organize activities such as grant proposal workshops, career development seminars, and networking events.

For more information please see our Activities page.

Upcoming Activities

Are you thinking of applying for a Swedish Research Council (VR) or Formas young scientist project grant in 2015?

Uppsala University Junior Faculty and research secretaries are arranging a workshop to help you write and improve your application, and we invite you to join. Registration is done using the following link:

Deadline for registration is January 12, 2015.

The workshop is done in small groups based on scientific topic. You read each other’s applications and provide feedback. The groups are organized by an experienced mentor who usually convenes 2-4 meetings.

To allow us to form relevant groups you have to specify a project title and which VR evaluation panel you will apply to when registering. If you have several possible evaluation panels, please list them in the comments box in the registration form. For more information on the evaluation panels, see the registration form.

A seminar on the VR application was given on Dec. 3. If you would like a copy of the presentation material, please respond to this email and we will send it to you.

Prepare for the workshop by going through the application instructions (see last year’s call) and writing 1-2 pages of your research plan (which will be your first draft). The first draft should include a bit of background and a short description of all of your planned research (for example as bullet points) so that the other group members and mentor can easily get an idea about your project.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the JF admin.
